Launching the New Finance Business School with Genovasi University College

On May 12, 2026, we jointly established and inaugurated the New Finance Business School with Genovasi University College in Malaysia. It is a date worth recording: an undertaking we are advancing together now has a clear starting point.

The photographs preserve two scenes from the day: a discussion in a meeting room and a group photograph outside the campus entrance. The papers, laptops, and cups on the conference table, together with the smiles in the group photograph, form part of my memory of the occasion.

An inauguration gives a shared undertaking a starting point

For me, establishing a business school means bringing together people willing to work toward a shared purpose and creating conditions for continued learning, research, and exchange. A ceremony marks a moment; the work of building something lasting unfolds afterward.

I hope the New Finance Business School can become a place where people from different backgrounds bring together the questions they encounter in enterprises, markets, and organizations—recognizing differences through discussion and finding ways forward through practice.

New finance begins with the capacity to understand change

Finance is encountering changes in technology, industry, and the way organizations work. For learners, the challenge goes beyond knowing new terminology. It includes understanding how these changes affect enterprises, reshape cooperation, and raise questions about rights and responsibilities.

To me, the “new” should be reflected in our ability to understand and address problems. When examining a project, it matters more to understand where value comes from, how resources are committed, who bears risk, and how the rules operate than to memorize a fashionable concept.

This is what I hope financial education can offer: knowledge that supports clearer judgment, tools applied to concrete problems, and conversations about opportunity that also include an understanding of responsibility.

Connecting learning with real problems

In enterprise practice, problems rarely arrive neatly separated by discipline. Operations, capital, organization, technology, and governance are often intertwined. Understanding one part does not necessarily mean the others are connected.

I therefore hope our future work together will emphasize these connections: bringing real problems into learning, using research to clarify their structure, and returning the resulting insights to practice for testing. Through that repeated movement, learning can develop into the ability to solve problems.

My continuing interest in stakeholder capital governance concerns how different participants’ inputs become visible, how contributions are confirmed, and how returns and governance are clearly arranged. I hope these questions can also be explored through an open environment for education and exchange.

Continuing the work from this starting point

My thanks go to Genovasi and to everyone involved in establishing and inaugurating the school. Beginning a shared undertaking takes trust. Helping it create lasting value requires continued effort, cooperation, and patience.

I am recording May 12, 2026 for more than the photographs of an event. When I look back on this day, I hope to see how it connected with the learning, research, and practice that followed.

The inauguration is a beginning. The work ahead is to turn our shared expectations into concrete action, step by step.
